At 633 inches long, 182 inches wide, and 148 inches high when saddled, this 29.4% aqueous ammonia storage tank was well outside the limits of an ordinary shipment. Buchanan Logistics coordinated the specialized transportation, matching the load with the equipment and carrier support needed to move it from the fabrication yard to the project site.

The photos tell the story better than a list of specifications. They show the tank loaded on a low-profile trailer, the securement points along the vessel, the oversized-load markings, and the clearances that shaped the move. Viewed from the front, side, and rear, the tank nearly fills the trailer’s usable deck. Those angles make it easy to see why field measurements matter; a few inches can change the equipment, permit, or route requirements.

At more than 52 feet long and just over 15 feet wide, the tank required a transportation plan built around its actual dimensions, not a standard template. That work started well before dispatch. Trailer selection, route review, permit requirements, pickup conditions, delivery access, and the unloading plan all had to be considered together.

The destination mattered as much as the route. A truck can cover hundreds of miles and still face its most demanding moments during the final approach, when space is tight and the load has to be positioned for the rigging crew. The gallery follows the tank from the shipping yard through arrival at the jobsite, with close-up views that show both the scale of the vessel and the practical details behind the move.

For manufacturers, contractors, and project teams, freight like this leaves little room for guesswork. Buchanan Logistics works with qualified carriers and project partners to coordinate heavy-haul and specialized shipments around the needs of each load.
